Ohiopyle Hosts Native Plant Sale - It is that time of year when we are all mowing lawns, planting flowers and doing general yard clean up. There is no doubt that this is the time to think about putting some new plantsin the ground. Why not think about using plants native to Pennsylvania? They will thrive in your yard and tolerate our winters because they are native to Pennsylvania. Always wanted to go native but didn’t know where to find the plants? Well we have the opportunity for you Saturday, May 23rd from noon-5:00pm. It is the annual Constance Ranson Native Plant Sale at Ohiopyle State Park. Plants will be available at the Main Falls Area in Ohiopyle. May 22 8:00pm Kentuck Campground Amphitheater - Whitewater!! - Ohiopyle State Park is famous for its whitewater. Join us for a program where we’ll introduce you to the opportu-nities and how to approach them safely. May 23 12:00pm-5:00pm Falls Area Visitor Center - Native Plant Sale - Native plants are the perfect choice for any Pennsylvania garden. Native growers will be selling their plants at this annual event hosted by the Southern Laurel Highlands Plant & Pest Management Group. May 24 10:00am-12:30pm Falls Area Visitor Center - Rise of the Falls Hike - Cucumber and Ohiopyle Falls are two icons of Ohiopyle State Park. On this moderate three mile hike we will dis-cuss how these falls formed and why. May 24 7:00pm - Kentuck Campground Amphitheater - The Outdoor Grocery Store - Learn some of the basics to foraging wild edibles. Iden-tify the three Ws of what, when and where to look for them. We will take a short hike to look for some exam-ples of what you might find. May 25 11:00am - Falls Area Visitor Center - Clothed and Confident: Survival Ohiopyle-style - This program will introduce you to basic survival skills that will help you to survive and not get lost in the woods. We’ll also cover what to do if you find yourself in a bad situation. May 30 10:00am - Falls Area Visitor Center - A Changing World - Climate change is a topic that has been debated for dec-ades. No matter what your opinion is on the subject we can all look at the impacts we have on our world. Join us for this program to discuss things you can do to make a difference. May 30 1:00pm - Train Station Visitor’s Center - Ferncliff Hike - The Ferncliff Peninsula was named a National Natural Area in 1973. Join us for this 1.5 mile hike where we ex-plore the peninsula and the cultural and natural history that make it so special. May 31 8:00 am Ramcat Put-in for the Middle Youghiogheny - Early Morning Wildlife Float Trip - Bring your own boat for this 9 mile float trip. We will leave bright and early so we can see as many different kinds of wildlife as possible. We will provide a driver’s shuttle from the Train Station to Ramcat following the program. Pre-Registration is required for this program
