Laurel Ridge State Park stretches along the Laurel Mountains near Ohiopyle. This 13,625 acre park spans Fayette, Cambria, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties. One of the parks main features is the 70 mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail which provides for day hiking and semi wilderness backpacking. Laurel Ridge State Park is especially gorgeous in the Winter season when covered in a blanket of snow. The park offers some of the finest nordic Skiing in the Mid Atlantic area. There are several trails for Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing ranging from easy to advanced and there is even a trail that is dog friendly. There is ample parking at the Park and you can purchase a trail pass from the Concession area. If closed, no pass is required. You must return to your vehicle by sunset and the Concession building closes at 5 pm and the warming hut closes at sunset. Trail maps are available for free from the Concession area.
